About me

Tom Watson has not ridden the Five Boro Bike Tour Before. Tom Watson has planned many trips before and is always open to suggestions to keep it simpler and more fun.
I am looking for three additional folks to share a room and transportation or just transportation for the purpose of reducing costs. I am a retired Engineer, Married with three grown children and grandchildren. I have ridden most recently with the Class Cycle sponsored Thurday Night Ride on the Pequonneck River Trail. I have no real preference for a start time, earlier is better. I enjoy meeting others and have not signed up with any team.

Version 0.4 add in. Distance from NYC Staten Island Ferry terminal too Pier 36 at Basketball City—299 South Street, New York, NY 10002 is 1.6 miles.
The East River Bikeway connects them.

My idea for this plan is my belief that after riding the tour, 40 miles,
biking with 32000 2.5 miles back to the Ferry,
queuing for passage to Manhattan and then to wherever one's vehicle is will be an effort.

Biking from Fort Wadsworth directly to my vehicle parked next to the Ferry Terminal seems preferable.
Other benefits ..... Parking at Ramada is free.


Itinerary Summary

May 5th
CRV To New York Pier 36 for Credentials.
CRV TO Supper then Hotel or CRV to Hotel then Supper
or CRV To Staten Island, Park at Ferry terminal on Staten Island
Ferry to Manhatten and bike to Pier 36
Meet other Casual Bikers and supper.
Ferry back to Staten Island to Staten Ramada.

May 6th
Hotel includes Breakfast. CRV or Bike To Staten Island Ferry to Beginning of tour. Ferry Schedules are every 1/2 hour.
Bike the tour to Fort Wadsworth.
Bike to Reserved parking Statin Island Ferry. and get CRV. Ferry Parking Garage next to Ferr Terminal.
CRV To CT

1. Leave Monro/CT Area 10 to 12 Sat May 5
Meet at my home, off road parking available. Pickup or Rideshare meeting also possible

2. Pick up credentials at Pier ???? 2 to 4 pm Sat May 5
Depending on parking and security for bikes I would stay with CRV do Proxy Packet Pickup.

4. Proceed to Ramada Staten for check in. After 3 pm
Plan activity for time to lights out. Midnight ??

5. Drive to Staten Island Ferry Parking, reserved,
Aprox 4.5 miles from Ramada Staten.

6. Ferry to Manhattan. Ferry runs both ways on the half hour.


7. Bike the Tour to Fort Wadsworth.

8. Bike to CRV and then return to CT. NOTE: I would likely choose returning via New Jersey as the traffic back over the Verrazano Narrow Bridge then back through the bouroughs would likely still have traffic snarls from the road clossures.
