FRAME COMPONENTS: The frame of the Schwinn Sports Tourer is manufactured from 4130 chrome molybdenum steel alloy tubing. All chrome-molybdenum alloy steel combines strength and light overall weight. All joints are hand br/azed and reinforced with pressed in sleeves.
FRAME SPECIFICATIONS: The Schwinn Sports Tourer is available in a 22" frame, 24" frame or 26" frame. The 26" frame model has a larger diameter top tube for extra strength.
FORK: Tubular fork with chrome plated fork cap. Six inches of chrome TRIM.
WHEELS: Assembled with Weinmann aluminum alloy rims on Schwinn-Approved Deluxe large flange hubs (Schwinn badged Normandy Luxe Competitions). Spokes are .080-.060 gauge and are chrome plated. The hubs are equipped with a quick release machanism which allows the wheels to be removed without tools.
TIRES: Schwinn-Approved 27" x 1-1/4" Puff Gumwall tires.
HANDLEBAR: Randonneur handlebars. These handlebars have a shallower drop and more extended ends.
CRANK SET: Aluminum alloy crank set with 170MM (6-3/4") crank arms. The chainwheels are 40 and 54 teeth and the crank set is supplied with a lightweight style chainguard.
PEDALS: Union aluminum alloy rattrap pedals with Sprint toe clips and straps.
SADDLE: Brooks B-15 all-leather saddle.
DERAILLEURS AND FREEWHEEL: Campagnolo Gran Turismo rear derailleur and Schwinn-Approved front derailleur. Derailleurs are operated from Schwinn Twin-Stik controls mounted on the frame head. The rear freewheel sprocket is Schwinn-Approved with sealed bearings and built-in chainguard. The sprockets are 14, 17, 22, 28 and 34 teeth. The 28 and 34 teeth sprockets are special 1" pitch configuration which allows for easier shifting into low ranges.
